John Carter of Earth...of Mars....of...a Sort of...
So apparently not many critics liked “John Carter”. Neither was there a huge desire to see the film in the theater as it, thus far, has made 282 million world-wide and it budget was 250 million (it needs about 520 million to break even). You know what? It wasn’t that bad. Seriously.  John is a civil war soldier who is being recruited to return to the fight; he resists the callback , resist being...

A MARVEL-ously exciting reason to go to the...
The Avengers (2012 - PG13) Back when I still worked at Dell in support, a co-worker introduced me to the show ‘Firefly’ and the movie ‘Serenity’. I was extremely surprised by how well made this show and film were made, how well the actors worked together and how snappy the directing was (okay, that’s the last movie geek comment I will make in this review). From...

You didn't sink my Battleship...not quite
So….I often go see movies all by my lonesome on Saturday mornings early when it’s really cheap (6 bucks). My wife does not agree with my task in movies and most of my friend are still sound asleep. Sometimes I get a little sleepy in the theatre…find it hard to keep my eyes from gettin’ droopy. Heck I got droopy during ‘Avatar’. For some reason, though, I did...

The Loss of a "House"-hold Member
I waited to type this until after I had seen “House: Swan Song”. I am glad I did. I am not going to talk a lot about the show itself but I will try to explain why the show no longer being produced is tough for me to bear. I watched this show from day one. I think it was the previews that did it for me. Something intrigued me about this cranky doctor who seemed to be awfully good at...

Great Scott! Ridley is back! Aaaaand....it's not...
So after seeing the trailer for ‘Savages’ before ‘Prometheus’, I have decided to change my mind and see this newest work of Ollie Stone when it comes out. It just *may* be a decent film….but I’ll still look for the message. I went to see ‘Prometheus’ in 3D at the local Cinemark. What I will first say is to all the critics, paid or otherwise, who...

On the Summer Calendar.....
Here’s a list of summer flicks, when they’re out and whether or not I plan to see them in the theater….if at all: June 1 - Snow White and the Huntsman - uuuummmmm, maybe on the TV from Red Box. I dunno, after my wife and I’s failed attempt to finish even one Twilight movie, I am not in a hurry to see this one Piranha 3DD - Okay, yeah, sure. No. June 8 - Prometheus...

And your most favorite movie of all time is.......
So go ahead and post it here and lemme know. I’m always curious to here what folks watch. Plus….it may even give me an idea of what else I need to see myself.  In my case, I’d have to say it’s “The Hunt for Red October” (1990, d. John McTiernan) and “Serenity” (2005, d. Joss Whedon). Whenever these are on TV, I will stop my channel surfing and...

Why I am doing this.....
So I get *really* tired of all these greater-than-thou critics who seem to think they are God’s gift to the earth. They spew all kinds of garbage and make comparisons to movies which most people haven’t seen (and probably don’t care to see) and they seem to enjoy beating up on movies, actors, directors…almost a perverse pleasure, if you will and they get paid for it. Well...
